2/4/14

We began class with a discussion on the Federalists and Democratic-Republicans.  Students were placed into groups.  Each group used their activity sheets from yesterday's lesson to prepare for the discussion.

After the discussion I gave a quick lecture about the Battle of Fallen Timbers (slides 13-15 of the note sheet).  Next, students found a partner and participated in a "say something" activity where they read an article on the battle, making comments whenever they reached a * in the reading.

Homework:  Finish reading the "Battle of Fallen Timbers" Reading.  Do not start working on the questions.

2/3/14

I began class by collecting homework as students defined the following terms, using their notes:

-political party
-Federalist
-Democratic Republican

We then discussed the terms.

Next, I handed students the "Political Party DBQ" handout.

Students were assigned to be either a member of the Federalist or Democratic-Republican Party.

Students then visited the stations set-up around the room.  At each station they first answered the comprehension questions.  Next, they looked for "dirt" on the opposite political party.  It would be something the person said about them, or something the other party had done.  See the directions on the handout
